Examples of Social Engineering

  • Post 9/11 – Fear of Al Quaeda, Muslim Terrorists
  • COVID-19
  • Elections

  • We don’t, we are programmed to play the game
  • Perception of who has the authority
  • Control a majority of the mob and the mood

Teaching & Training are two different ideas

Civil discourse and how to actually have a conversation

Engage others, drop facts, have conversations

Understand the difference between fact and opinion

  • Two separate worlds: Those awake and those terrified
  • Crumbling of moral media
  • Media controlling the narrative
  • Medical – ADA you cannot state why you do not wear the mask

“In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated, and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.” Mark Twain

  • Have an open mind and heart
  • Question everything, including yourself
  • Look for the fnords
  • Reification – that which is abstract is made real or concrete
  • Theory v. Practice – You can read all about it, but it’s just an idea until you actually do it
